Jared. S. Hechtkopf Community Food Bank
St. Petersburg Free Clinic firmly believes that no one should have to live with the fear that they will not have enough food on the table to feed their children. Since 1980, the Free Clinic Food Bank has been providing hope to people in south and mid-Pinellas County. Last year, we distributed 3 million pounds of food to our neighbors in need.
To keep up with the demand for food assistance, we have acquired a new location for the growing food bank, which provides food to more than 60,000 people each month.
With a significant gift from St. Petersburg businesswoman Bonnie Hechtkopf, the Free Clinic purchased a 14,000-square-foot warehouse at 3115 44th Ave. N in Lealman. The new warehouse will significantly expand the Food Bank’s capacity – particularly its supply of healthy, fresh produce.
The Jared S. Hechtkopf Community Food Bank will allow us to
– Provide more food to more people
– Supply more fresh produce and healthier food options
– Empower or partner agencies through education and increased collaboration
With your support, the Free Clinic can begin closing the hunger gap by doubling the amount of food distributed in the community. Within three years, the Clinic plans to supply 6 million pounds of food annually. But, we need your help to make this happen.
The Feed the Need Campaign is critical in achieving a hunger free community.
Please join us in this effort to end hunger.
