The Free Clinic Volunteer team remains in close communication with local medical professionals and public health officials about the COVID-19 health crisis. Additionally, we are continually monitoring the actions and recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We are following the guidelines set forth by these experts and asking current and prospective volunteers in high-risk groups to stay home and stay healthy.

If you are willing to volunteer during this critical time, and are healthy, under 65 and have no chronic health conditions, please complete the Volunteer Initial Risk Assessment form below. We cannot yet anticipate what our needs will be in the coming weeks (and months), so we are compiling a list of healthy and willing volunteers who can be on our “on call” list as the situation evolves.

Once we are at the other end of this unprecedented health emergency, we will be reaching out to all prospective volunteers to help us meet what will very likely be a significantly increased demand. Please review the information below if you would like to learn more about volunteering with the Free Clinic.

How to Volunteer Once the COVID-19 Crisis Has Passed

Individual & group volunteers (scroll down for more info on group opportunities) are welcome and always needed at St. Petersburg Free Clinic. Our volunteers contributed over 33,000 hours in 2018, the equivalent of about 17 full-time employees!  We are grateful to those in our community who contribute their time and talents to support St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s mission.

St. Petersburg Free Clinic offers a variety of volunteer opportunities.  Some require a minimum commitment of time – for example, we ask that those who volunteer in our Food Pantry commit to 4 hours once per week for  about three months.  Some require licensing (Health Center and Dental Clinic providers).  Whatever your availability and interests, we can likely find a great match for you.   And, you will be making an immediate impact in YOUR community – helping our neighbors in need.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.  At this time, we are specifically looking for volunteers to assist in the areas of:

  • Food Pantry/We Help Services: Pantry Guides (assisting and guiding clients through pantry), Pantry Stocking Clerk, Hygiene Clerk, Produce Assistant
  • Health Center: Patient Care: Physicians and certified Health Educators.
  • Dental Clinic: Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Assistants
  • Administration and fundraising support, Community Champions (those who support our outreach efforts in our community) and Special Events.

How to Become A Volunteer:

The first step is to attend a New Volunteer Info Session.  Here,  you’ll learn about St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s programs and the many ways volunteers support our important work in the community.

Upcoming Info Sessions:

Volunteer Info Sessions are held at our downtown location (863 3rd Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701) in the upstairs conference room.

Please fill out the form below to sign up for an upcoming Info Session.  Note- Scheduled Info Sessions are subject to cancellation depending on the status of the current health crisis.  We will be sure to communicate to you if a session for which you have signed up has been cancelled.
