How to Become A Volunteer:

The first step to becoming a Free Clinic volunteer has, historically, been to attend a New Volunteer Info Session where you can learn about our various programs and volunteer needs and opportunities.  While we work through this unprecedented health crisis, we are not hosting any in-person New Volunteer Info Sessions.  If you are interested in volunteering, please check back for updates on possible Virtual Info Sessions, tentatively planned for June or July.  You can also send an email to volunteers@stpetersburgfreeclinic.org if you have immediate questions.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, St. Petersburg Free Clinic has had to evolve and respond to the changing environment and increased need in our community. The Volunteer Staff Team remains in close communication with local medical professionals and public health officials about the COVID-19 health crisis. Additionally, we are continually monitoring the actions and recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We are following the guidelines set forth by these experts and asking current and prospective volunteers in high-risk groups to stay home and stay healthy.

Volunteering at St. Petersburg Free Clinic

Individual & group volunteers are welcome and always needed at St. Petersburg Free Clinic.  We are grateful to those in our community who contribute their time and talents to support St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s mission.

St. Petersburg Free Clinic offers a variety of volunteer opportunities.  Some require a minimum commitment of time – for example, we ask that those who volunteer in our Food Pantry commit to 4 hours once per week for  about three months.  Some require licensing (Health Center and Dental Clinic providers).  Whatever your availability and interests, we can likely find a great match for you.   And, you will be making an immediate impact in YOUR community – helping our neighbors in need.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.

  • Food Pantry/We Help Services: Pantry Guides (assisting and guiding clients through pantry), Pantry Stocking Clerk, Hygiene Clerk, Produce Assistant
  • Health Center: Patient Care: Physicians and certified Health Educators.
  • Dental Clinic: Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Assistants
  • Administration and fundraising support, Community Champions (those who support our outreach efforts in our community) and Special Events.
